Frequently Asked Questions:
How should I prepare for my session?
Please avoid wearing perfume before coming to your lesson. Our home is scent-free, and Dahlia is highly sensitive to strong scents.
It’s also recommended that you do not apply lotion to your hands or legs before class. Lotion makes skin slippery and can affect your ability to grip the pole. If needed, you can wash your hands upon arrival.
Have a light snack or meal and drink water beforehand to keep your energy up during your session.
Note on pets: Our residence is home to two shy cats who do not enter the studio space. Most students with mild allergies are unaffected, but if you have severe cat allergies, please let Dahlia know in advance.
What should I wear for my session?
Wear comfortable workout clothing that allows movement and skin contact with the pole. Shorts are recommended, but yoga pants, capris, or a skort also work. For tops, choose a t-shirt, tank top, or crop top.
If you have a pole outfit you’ve been waiting to try, bring it along! Sessions involve standing, reaching, crouching, and bending. Most students go barefoot or wear socks. Heels are optional—you’re welcome to put them on later in the session.

What should I expect during my session?
Each session begins with a warm-up and stretch led by Dahlia, followed by instruction based on your level:
How long does a session last?
Sessions are 1 hour long. Please arrive 5–10 minutes early to sign the waiver and get settled. For groups of 2+ students, sessions may run longer. Additional time is billed in 30-minute increments. Contact Dahlia to schedule extended sessions or private parties.
Can I record video or take pictures?
Yes! Recording is encouraged so you can track progress and practice later. Multiple tripods are available in the studio.
Do I need upper body strength to start pole dancing?
Not at all. Pole dancing builds strength over time, and Dahlia’s intro-level lessons are designed for complete beginners. The spins and movements taught in your first sessions don’t require significant upper body strength. With regular classes, most students quickly build strength and confidence for more advanced moves.
How should I care for myself after class?
Pole fitness can be a full-body workout. It’s common to feel sore or experience light bruising after class. To recover:
